Whitesbog Village in Brendan Byrne State Park

Presented by Atlas Obscura

Conceived by David Scott Kessler, director of The Pine Barrens and set in the trails, bogs, and fields of Whitesbog, a historic blueberry farm in the heart of the New Jersey Pine Barrens, MIDDLE OF NOWHERE is a site-specific art, music, folklore, and film event that seeks to explore and re-contextualize the landscape and culture that make up the 1.1 million acres of protected but endangered Pinelands Preservation.

The event features The Pine Barrens, the documentary scored live by The Ruins of Friendship Orchestra and includes a  collection of renowned visual artists creating work in dialogue with the landscape. MIDDLE OF NOWHERE juxtaposes traditional and contemporary art and music while immersing participants in the mysterious and unique world of the Pine Barrens.
